As part of the Being Human festival, our project hosted an evening of discussion regarding psychic phenomena and the reasons people seek them out. The event took place at the Pack Horse pub in Leeds from 7-9pm on November 9th 2023.

This event has already taken place and involved a paranormal belief scale, a paranormal pub quiz, and pints and packets of crisps!

On June 20th 2024, our project will host an online international conference bringing together researchers from across disciplines such as history, literature, religious studies, psychology, and the social sciences. Keynotes and paper presentations will address the human capacity for balancing between ‘tandem realities’: modern scientific vs religious worldviews, fiction vs reality, material vs spiritual. A key focus will be how and why spiritualism, mysticism, esotericism, and the occult fit (or not) the ‘spirit of the age’ - a time when competing and coexisting paradigms blend as society seeks to integrate collective discovery with individual meaning.
